In Brave New World, there are five
different caste groups. The Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas, and Epsilons. In the London society the Alphas are the most needed,
the smartest, the best looking, and the most free. The Betas are the second best caste group, they are second best at everything,
they are the second most needed, the second smartest, the second best looking, and the second most free group. Characters
in the book such as Linda, are free to what they believe is a life, they are conditioned very well so that they can associate
with the Alphas, and the Gammas, they are the middle men. The Betas are conditioned so that they think that they are the perfect
caste, (along with all of the other castes) they think that Beta is the best caste, and to be anything else is just wrong.
The Betas in this book are not in some ways that much different from the Alphas. The only major difference is that they are
more conditioned to follow orders, and are more likely to do so because of it. They are more controlled.
