Hypnopaedia and the Media

Hypnopaedia- The art of teaching someone a lesson in their sleep so that they can remember it when asked.

Media- The messages and images that a person sees everyday on television, in magazines, in the news paper, or by peeps. Media is meant for the person who sees it everyday to start to believe it, and thus follow it.

In my opinion, hypnopaedia and the media are very closely connected. There are some differences, such as, hypnopaedic messages are taught in a persons sleep, while media is something that you view consciously. This is the only difference between hypnopaedia and media that I can see.

To me, media is a form of hypnopaedia. Media is directly connected to hypnopaedia because the media gives the viewer a message, or image that is believed to be right. Hypnopaedia also gives the viewer a message or image so in this sense they are the same thing, the only difference is that when you watch or listen to media you are awake and thinking consciously, but when you listen to hypnopaedia you are asleep absorbing it with your subconscious mind.

When someone looks at the same image over and over and over again with someone telling them that this image is what you should be, sooner or later you will start to believe them. This is one method of brain washing, it is another way that the media gets people to follow it. The media is used to give a person a certain idea that the person would not have though about if it had not been hidden as through entertainers and so called "role models." Hypnopaedia is a lot like this because it gives a person the idea that they know something, or that they are something that they would not have known, or been had it not been put into their heads subconsciuosly.

Hypnopaedia in Music

For me, hypnopaedia and Music are very much alike. For example, whenever I fall asleep listening to music, the next morning when I wake up, I will have the song stuck in my head. I will be singing it aloud (non intentionally,) but when someone asks me what song it is, or what the lyrics are, I have no clue.

Another example of mine, is whenever I am reading a book while listening to music the same thing happens. Once I am finished reading a book, I like to read it agian, so that I haven`t missed any information. When I read the pages over without any music on, im my mind I will be able to hear the same song at the same spot in the song that I was listening to while reading the certain spot on the certain page. due to these strange events while listening to music while sleeping and reading, I think that the lyrics, and music in the songs are pressed into your mind subconsciously so that the next time I am in the same scenario I will hear the music.
